The Pocket Clarinet is the latest addition to the existing range of Prodige student instruments. This surprising instrument is the result of 3 years’ research by the *Laboratoire Interface Acoustique Musique et Facture Instrumentale (LIAMFI), a laboratory set up in 2017 jointly between Buffet Crampon and the **Laboratoire de Mécanique et d’Acoustique (https://laboratoire-mecanique-acoustique.fr/).
It will enable the youngest music learners to practise on a real single-reed woodwind instrument, where the sound is produced by a Bb clarinet mouthpiece and resonates in a body made of Mozambique blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon).
