Petr Fedkov

Ukraine National Prize winner (1980) Petr Fedkov graduated from Gnessin Russian Academy of Music (Moscow) in 1984. In 1989 he returned there to study and work as Prof. Pushechnikov’s assistant. Since 1991, Petr combines teaching with performing. As a professor, he has lectured at Korean National University of Arts (Seoul), worked in University of Montenegro (Podgorica), and since 2011 holds a position of associate professor at State Glinka Academy (Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia).

Petr is famous for his fascinating workshops, which he has performed on several continents, both solo and in collaboration with many musitians, including Maurice Bourgue, Heinz Holliger, Jean-Louis Capezzali, Ray Still, Joseph Robinson, Simon Fuchs, David Walter, Thomas Indermühle, Klaus Becker, Gunter Passin, Hans-Christian Sneider, Ingo Goritzki, Emmanuel Abbhul, Francois Leloux, Stefan Schilli, and Albrecht Mayer.

As performer Petr closely associates with Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra by Yuri Temirkanov and Russian National Orchestra by Mikhail Pletnev, where he worked for many years. As 1-st oboe and soloist, he recorded with BBC Philharmonic in Manchester, worked at Korean Symphony Orchestra in Seoul, and as wind concertmaster at Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra. Pert regularly performs as invited 1-st oboe at Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and many others. Petr has participated in many festivals, including BBC Proms (London, UK), Salzburg Festival (Austria), Osterfestival (Innsbruck,Austria), Radio France Presenses (Paris, France), Festival de Musique (Menton, France), International Gaudeamus Music Week (Amsterdam, Nitherlands), Time of Music (Finland), Musica Atiqua in Deutshe Museum (Munich, Germany), Spuren Suche (Heidelberg, Germany), Auf der Suche (Frankfurt/Main, Germany), Moscow Autumn (Russia), Palaces of St. Petersburg (Russia), Warsaw Autumn (Poland), Bemus (Beograd, Serbia) Ensems (Valencia, Spain) Tokyo Summer Festival (Japan), Tage fur Neue Musik Zurich (Switzerland), Musica a Arte Sacra (Vatikan), and has worked with Valeri Gergiev, Maurice Yansons, Eugen Svetlanov, Gennadi Rojestvensky, Vladimir Spivakov, Vladimir Fedoseev, Vasili Sinaisky, Roman Kofman, Bojan Sudic, and Myung-whun Chung.

Petr actively performs across the world. His repertoire encompasses compositions from baroque to modern music. Performing with many orchestras, he continues to lead workshops in Russia, Europe and Asia. He has participated in more than 40 symphonic and chamber music recordings under Olimpia, Harmonia Mundi, Chandos Records, and Deutsche Grammophon labels.

For more than twenty years, Petr plays Buffet Crampon a Paris oboes, being one of the first Russian oboists to appreciate the instruments in 1993. Currently, he possesses “Prestige” and “Orfeo” oboes by Buffet Crampon.
