Madelyn Moore

Madelyn Moore is Assistant Professor of Clarinet at New Mexico State University, where in addition to clarinet lessons, she teaches methods courses in the music education sequence and conducts the NMSU Clarinet Choir. She is a member of the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, has performed with the El Paso, Santa Fe and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestras, and regularly gives solo and chamber recitals.

As a founding member of The Violetta Duo, Dr. Moore has commissioned several works for flute and clarinet alone and has performed in several states, as well as at National and International conferences. In the Spring of 2022 she was awarded a Seed Funding Grant from New Mexico State University which funded the “Sky and Earth, Boundless” project, commissioning three new pieces from composers Theresa Martin, Jacob Dalager and Daniel Morel all inspired by the United States National Parks System. These works were premiered in February 2023 alongside poetry by NMSU professor, Dr. Eric Magrane. They will also be performed at the 2023 International Clarinet Association Clarinetfest in Denver, CO. In summer of 2023 she will also be premiering three new pieces at the International Horn Symposium in Montreal, Canada as part of Trio Enchantment.

Before her time at NMSU, Dr. Moore held positions at Kilgore College and Tarrant County College, and maintained a studio of 70-90 students in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. She has taught, lectured and performed throughout the US, and in Belgium, Spain and China. Former students have gone on to study music at The University of North Texas, The University of Kansas and Indiana University. Dr. Moore’s research on the forgotten compositions of clarinetist Heinrich Baermann has been published in The Clarinet. Carl Fischer Music publishes three of Baermann’s works edited by Dr. Moore in a volume, titled “Heinrich Baermann: Lesser Known Works for the Clarinet.” Dr. Moore is the current editor of The New Mexico Musician, the official publication of the New Mexico Music Educators Association. Her primary teachers include Dr. Stephanie Zelnick, Ana Victoria Luperi, Dr. Gregrory Barrett and Gary Whitman.
