Kaitlyn Walker

Principal Oboe, Eastern Wind Symphony

An adjunct faculty member at New York University Steinhardt, oboist Kaitlyn Walker currently serves as the Woodwind Studies Program Assistant. Managing the Woodwind Chamber music program for both undergraduate and graduate students, Ms. Walker coordinates a multi-concert chamber music series every semester throughout New York City. In addition, she serves as faculty at the New York Summer Musical Festival, the South Orange-Maplewood Public Schools, and the NYU Summer Institute for Woodwind Studies. In 2014, Ms. Walker worked on the International Double Reed Society’s 43rd annual conference held at New York University. As Conference Coordinator, she acted as a liaison between the society, university, and hundreds of the world’s prominent double reed artists. Ms. Walker coordinated nearly 200 performances, masterclasses and lectures throughout the 5-day series. The conference held a record number of performers and attendees making it one of the world’s largest double reed events in history. Most recently she has served as a consultant for the International Double Reed Society where she traveled domestically representing the young, upcoming generation of double reed artists. An active clinician, Ms. Walker has given lectures and masterclasses throughout the tri-state area to music educators and students with emphases on arts administration, oboe performance, and woodwind studies in public schools. She has served on a series of panels through the National Association of Music Education, the National Education Association, New York University, the International Double Reed Society, and Rutgers University.Ms. Walker has performed with a variety of world-renowned artists including Wynton Maralis, Piquito de Rivera, Alan Vizzutti, and hip-hop artist Jay-Z. Currently holding the position of Principal Oboist with the Eastern Wind Symphony, Ms. Walker has most recently performed with the ensemble at the internationally acclaimed Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. In addition, she serves as the second oboe and English horn player of the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Walker has performed with the Adelphi Orchestra, Orchestra Society of St. Cecilia, One World Symphony, and World Peace Orchestra. Kaitlyn Walker has performed extensively in venues including Avery Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center, The Bowery Ballroom, The Count Basie Theater, New Jersey PAC, Symphony Space, Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University, and Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center.
