Enrique Pérez Piquer

Principal at the Spanish National Orchestra (Orquesta Nacional de España)

Native of Carcaixent (Valencia-Spain), Enrique PÉREZ PIQUER is principal at the Spanish National Orchestra (Orquesta Nacional de España) since 1984. At the age of 19 years old, he was also principal of the Madrid Symphony Orchestra (1981-85).

Since 2008, Enrique is teaching at the prestigious Superior Music School “Reina Sofía” in Madrid. From 1982 to 1985, he has been teaching at the Symphonic Band of Madrid (Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Madrid).

As a soloist, he has been performing with some of the main Spanish orchestras : Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta Clásica de Madrid, Orquesta Filarmónica de Madrid, Filarmonía de España, Orquesta de Cámara Andrés Segovia, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León…

Honor Prize and Honorable Mention in the Superior Conservatories of Valencia and Madrid.

-1982: 2nd Prize Woodwind Soloist Competition of Spanish Musical Youth

-1985: Semifinalist in the International Clarinet Competition of Toulon (France)

-1988: 1st Prize in the International Clarinet Competition of the Festival of Reims (France)

-1991: 1st Prize in the Clarinet Competition City of Dos Hermanas (Spain)

He has performed as Concertist with Orchestras, Professional Bands, Recitals with Piano and Chamber Music throughout Europe and South America.

Lover of the pedagogy of Clarinet teaching and researcher of Clarinet history in Spain. He is invited to give Master Class, prepare the Clarinet sections of Young Orchestras, etc. Some of his students today are great professional, who work in Spanish and foreign orchestras, professional Bands, Conservatories. Etc.

He has done a lot World premieres of composers who have composed for him as Soloist and Chamber Mudiv. Highlighting the premiere with the Spanish National Orchestra for first time in Europ of Fantasia Española,op.17 by Julián Bautista (1996) and World Premier Ortzi Isilak by R. Lazkano (2006). World Premier Concerto for Clarinet and Symphonic Band by J. Perez Ribes (2003). Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by J. V. Peñarrocha (1992). Yortög (2009) and Sonata for Clarinet and Piano (2010) by Octavio Vazquez, etc

In September 2019 World Premiere of the Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra by Daniel Sánchez Velasco, with the Spanish National Orchestra.

His teachers in Spain have been: Francisco Vidal, José Taléns Sebastiá, José Vicente Peñarrocha, Lucas Conejero, … And abroad: Guy Deplus, Karl Leister, Michele Zukovsky, Anthony Gigliotti, Thomas Friedli, Hans Deinzer, Hans Rudolf Stadler,…
