Wang Yunran

Saxophone lecturer at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music

Wang Yunran, the saxophone lecturer in the department of modern instruments of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, director of saxophone association in Sichuan province, director of saxophone professional committee, chairman of the jury of Chengdu division in the competition of China-Singapore International Music and the chief of the alto voice of the saxophone chamber orchestra of the department of modern instruments in the Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He has visited America for many times, held concerts, held the posts of the domestic and international judge of the saxophone quartet for many times, the judge of the first Yamaha Quartet Invitation Tournament in Chengdu in 2013 and won the title of ‘visiting artists’ of saxophone in Asian-Pacific region in 2016. As the No. 1 concert performer of the saxophone in the domestic, he has firstly ascended the Sydney Opera House- the world-class music hall to hold solo concert.

From 2003 to 2011, he studied in Sichuan Conservatory of Music and learned from Prof. Li Yusheng. In 2011, he graduated as the postgraduate student. Since 2013, he has stayed at school and taught till now. During the period of studying in schools and his tenure, he has attended the performances in master class as well as in domestic and abroad. He has ever accepted the instructions from the prof. Claude Delangle of the Paris Conservatory Of Music in France, Prof. Thomas Liley of Joliet Junior College in America, Prof. John W.Sampen of American Bowling Green University, Prof. Rhett Bender of the music department in Southern Oregon State University and Prof. Susan Fancher of Duke University. His professional level has won the approval of experts.

B. Personal Honors
In 2007, as the member of the saxophone chamber orchestra of the department of modern instruments in Sichuan Conservatory of Music, he attended 5-city tour performance in Chongqing, Guiyang, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Chengdu. In Apr. 2008, he held the personal solo concert in the small music hall of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. He attended the 15th World Saxophone Meeting held in Thailand in July, 2009 and performed in the concert. In 2009, As the member of the group of the new world saxophone quartet of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, he appeared in the monthly magazine in November — ‘Saxophone Journal’ – the world authority saxophone journal. In Sep. 2009, he attended the first music education conference of the east Asia, which was held in Shenyang, and performed in the concert. In July, 2010, he was invited to attend the 10th Siskiyou Saxophone Workshop, which was held by the Southern Oregon State University, and performed in the concert. In Nov. 2010, he held his graduation solo concert, which was held in Nie’er Music Hall in Sichuan Conservatory of Music. In Nov. 2011, he attended the Chengdu Saxophone Symposium called ‘The Sound Of Autumn’ and performed in the special concert. In April, 2012, he was invited by the music school of the University of Cincinnati and the Ithaca College. He visited the two universities and lectured. And he also held the special concert. In July, 2014, as the chief of the alto voice of saxophone ensemble of the saxophone professional board of Sichuan Musicians Association, he attended saxophone special concert for commemorating the birth of Adolphe Sax’s 200th anniversary. In Feb. 2015, he was appointed as the vice director of the jury panel of Chengdu Screening Competition of the 9th China -Singapore International Music Competition,the professional leader of saxophone and the judge of Singaporean Final stage and he won the excellent guide teacher award. In April, 2016, he won ‘Excellent Guide Teacher Award’ in the Sichuan Division of the Melbourne Deakin Edge International Instrumental and Vocal Music Contest. In May, 2016, as the alto voice chief of saxophone chamber orchestra of modern instruments school, he attended the 20th anniversary gala concert of the founding of Sichuan Pipe Music Federation. In May, 2015, he won the ‘Excellent Instruction Teacher Award’ in the Chengdu screening competition of 15th Excellent Students’ Artistic Talents. In July, 2016, he was invited to attend the saxophone Youth Action Institute of Asian-Pacific region, which was held in Thailand, and held the special concert of Young Saxophone Performers of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. And he won ‘Excellent Guide Teacher Award’. In Aug. 2016, he was invited by ‘Melbourne Overseas Chinese Musicians Association’ to attend the 5th ‘Australia-China Youth Music Festival’. He was appointed as the international tutor and judge. And as the Chinese saxophone performer, he firstly ascended into the Sydney Opera House- the world-class music hall and successfully held solo concert.

C. Teaching Results
In Nov. 2013, leading Lingfeng Saxophone Quartet group in the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, he attended the first ‘Yamaha Saxophone Quartet Invitation Tournament’ and won the second prize among the professional groups. In Dec. 2013, the music department of Sichuan Normal University held the concert of Wang Xinran’s Saxophone Teaching Class. In April, 2014, his student- Sun Zhiteng respectively held saxophone graduation concerts in Nie’er Music Hall of Sichuan Conservatory of Music and the music hall of Sichuan Normal University. In Jan, 2015, his undergraduate student- Zhou Rui, who was the sophomore student, attended the 9th China- Singapore International Music Contest in Singapore and won the first place in the saxophone professional group in the Singaporean final. (In open works group). In July, 2015, his student – Duan Hongwei of the 2011 grade, held Duan Hongwei’s Saxophone Solo Performance Concert in Xinghai Music Hall. In Aug. 2015, Kong Junxiang, the undergraduate of 2014 grade, won the second prize in the saxophone young group in the solo contest of wind music of China (International) Pipe Instrument Summer Camp in 2015-‘Huaqiao City In The East of Shenzhen’ . In Aug. 2015, his student-Jiang Zhengyan, in the seventh grade, won the third place of saxophone teenager group in the solo contest of wind music of China (International) Pipe Instrument Summer Camp in 2015-‘Huaqiao City In The East of Shenzhen’ . In Dec. 2015, in the music department of Sichuan Normal University, hold Wang Xinran’s Saxophone teacher-student concert, with the theme of ‘Together we are one’. In Jun. 2016, in the Nie’er music hall of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, hold Wang Xinran’s Saxophone teacher-student concert, with the theme of ‘Together we are one’. In April, 2016, his student-Feng Zixin, who was the student of the first grade in the regular college course won the first place in the II youth group of the self-selected solo performance group of western instruments of the Melbourne Deakin Edge International Instrumental and Vocal Music Contest in the Sichuan division. In April, 2016, his student-Jiang Zhengyan, who was the seventh grade student, won the second prize in the I group of youth group of the self-selected solo performance group of western instruments of the Melbourne Deakin Edge International Instrumental and Vocal Music Contest in the Sichuan division. In Aug. 2016, his student-Feng Zixin, who was the student of the first grade in the regular college course, won the second prize in Sydney in the final stage of saxophone college group of the 5th ‘Australia-China Youth Music Festival’. In April, 2017, his student- Liao Li’an won the first place in the self-selected work group of the second young saxophone group in Sichuan division of the 3rd ‘Melbourne International Youth Music Contest’. In April, 2017, his student-Kong Junxiang won the first place in the self-selected work group of the second young saxophone group in the Sichuan division of the ‘3rd ‘Melbourne International Youth Music Contest’. In April, 2017, his student-Feng Zixin won the first place in the self-selected work group of the second young saxophone group in the Sichuan division of the 3rd ‘Melbourne International Youth Music Contest’.
