Crispim LUZ

Professor at Costa Cabral Oporto Academy

Born in 1986 in Maia, begins his musical studies in 2000 at Oporto Conservatory. In 2009 finished the ESMAE (Oporto University) in the class of António Saiote, Nuno Pinto and Iva Barbosa. During his carrer, he made a several master-class with Iva Barbosa, Philippe Berrod, Philippe Cuper, Ronal Van Spaendonck, Juan Ferrer, Larry Combs and Michel Lethiec. In the orchestras he had the opportunity to work under the conduction of Douglas Bostock, Benjamin Zander, Rafael Villaplana, Eugene Corporone, José Ferreira Lobo, Alvaro Cassuto, Elisabeth Fuchs, António Saiote, Jan Cober, Alex Schilings and Amaury du Closel in different countries. Since 2007, he is the concert master of Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa and with this wind orchestra won two important competitions for this formation, La Sénia (2007) and WMC Kerkrade (2011). In clarinet competitions won a honor mension on “Marcos Romão” competition (2001), the 3th prize in “Prémio J. August Alegria” (2007), semi-finalist in Young Artists Competition (2009) and 3th prize in “Intermusica Birkfeld” (2012). As a soloist played with Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa an original piece for clarinet and Wind Orchestra by David Maslanka. In 2009 was invited to play in Festival junger Kunstler Bayreuth. In 2010 won the position for the ensemble Orfeo 33 in Paris. In chamber music he is a member of the Contratempus Quartet an unusual formation (high voice, clarinet, cello and piano). Actually he is teaching in Costa Cabral Oporto Academy.
