Sangwoo LIM

Clarinetist Sangwoo Lim is the associate principal clarinetist of the Seoul philharmonic orchestra. He has graduated from Seoul Arts High School, college of Music of Seoul National University, Hochschule fuer Musik Detmold in germany with prof. Hans D.Klaus and studied Hochschule fuer Musik Basel in switzerland with prof. Francois Benda, then in 2007 he was appointed associate principal clarinetist with the SPO by maestro Myung-Whun Chung. He has won 1st prizes in numerous music competition including the Donga Music Competition, Ewha Music Competition and KBS young musician’s competition in korea. and he was selected from the Young Artist Audition of KUMHO ASIANA cultural foundation. He was principal clarinetist of Seoul youth philharmonic orchestra and appeared as a soloist with Seoul philharmonic orchestra, Sofia Soloists, KBS symphony orchestra, Suwon philharmonic orchestra etc. He performed at 2010 ICA ClarinetFest in Austin,Texas and also invited to many chamber concerts and festival in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Essen, Dortmund, Bielefeld, Detmold in germany and has had several solo recitals in Seoul Arts Center. He is currently associate principal clarinetist with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra (Artistic Director, Myung-Whun Chung), Buffet Crampon artist, member of seoul clarinet ensemble.
