Rossana Rossignoli

Principal Clarinetist of the Basel Symphony Orchestra

Born in Verona, Rossana Rossignoli has been described as a “brilliant representative of the new musical generation in Italy” (Rotary Club Prize, 2009).

She is a graduate of the “F.E. Dall’Abaco” Conservatory of Verona and the Academy of “Maggio Musicale Fiorentino”, where she studied with Riccardo Crocilla. She furthered her studies with Enrico Maria Baroni, Alessandro Carbonare and Thomas Friedli.

Rossana Rossignoli has won several prizes at international competitions, including 1st Prize at the “Citta di Carlino Competition” 2006, 3rd Prize at “Giuseppe Tassis” 2008 and 3rd Prize at the “Camillo Togni” 2008.

She has performed as Principal Clarinet in the “Orchestre National de France”, the Orchestra of the “Arena di Verona”,  “Teatro dell’Opera di Roma”, “Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino”  and the “Haydn Orchestra” in Bolzano with conductors such as Kurt Mazur, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev and Seiji Ozawa.

She also collaborated with “Orchestre National D’Ile de France” , “Teatro La Fenice”, Orchestra RAI in Turin and Andras Schiff’s “Cappella Andrea Barca”.

As soloist she performed with the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the “Arena di Verona”.

Rossana Rossignoli is a committed player of chamber music.  Recent projects include collaborations with horn player Bruno Schneider, the Quatuor Sine Nomine and the Belcea Quartet.

She has been Principal Clarinetist of the Basel Symphony Orchestra since 2010.
