Roberto Armocida, is graduated with honors and special mention in saxophone at the “San Pietro a Majella” Conservatory in Naples in the class of Francesco Salime.
Later he attends numerous master classes with Francesco Salime, Victor Morosco, Arno Bornkamp, Jean Yves Fourmeau and Claude Delangle . He has an intense concert activities both as soloist and in chamber ensembles. It is winner of first prize in the town of Bacoli, special section of saxophone, Edition 2003 chaired by Fabrice Moretti, third place at the A.M.A. Calabria 2004 edition contemporary music section; with the saxophone quartet of Conservatory playing soprano saxophone he won the first prize at the Bacoli Contest Edition 2005, the first prize at the Pozzuoli Contest 2006 Edition, the first prize at the Castellammare di Stabia Contest , the first prize at the Acerra Contest, etc. Since 2006 is a member of the saxophone quartet « Francesco Salime » and “Salime Saxophone Sextet” with which it carries out an intense concert activity and has represented Italy at the “European Meeting of Saxophone Ensembles” held in Berlin in 2003, part of the « Francesco Salime » saxophone ensemble attended the World Congress in Montreal in 2000.
From 2003 he collaborate with the Orchestra of National Accademy of Santa Cecilia under the direction of the most important conductors of our days: Yuri Temirkanov, Wayne Marshall, Ennio Morricone, Myung-Whun Chung Andrew Grams, George Pretre, George Pehlivanian, Nicolas Brochot, Antonio Pappano, Alessandro De Marchi etc., playing with internationally renowned soloists and in prestigious halls as the Royal Albert Hall. In 2005 the Ravel’s « Bolero » with Daniel Oren at the « Francesco Cilea » Theatre of Reggio Calabria.
From 2010 is saxophonist of the Teatro Massimo “Bellini” in Catania. This collaboration that allowed him to work with the choreographer Roland Petit and with dancers such as: Eleonora Abbagnato, Marta Romagna, Benjamin Pech, Luigi Bonino, Mick Zeni, Lienz Chang. In addition is saxophonist of the “San Pietro a Majella” Conservatory Orchestra. Always with the Saxophone Saxtet « Francesco Salime » has recorded a CD with music by G. F. Handel, A. Vivaldi, G. Rossini, J. M. Molter, L. Signorini, M. Tisano, J. Matitia.
In October 2006 he held concerts at the Conservatory of Prague (Czech Republic) in duo with Neapolitan pianist Luca Gargiulo, riscuotedo a huge success that earned him an invitation to hold solo concerts for the celebration of 200 years of the Prague Conservatory. Since 2005 is chosen by Roberto De Simone as the first saxophone of all his works. In November 2006 with the Scarlatti Orchestra plays the role of soloist in the Instrumental Suite from « La Gatta Cenerentola » of Roberto De Simone. In the months of January and February 2007 is orchestral of the new work of Roberto De Simone « La ci darem la mano ».
In May 2007 participates in the execution of « Wonderful Town », musical of Leonard Bernstein at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia.
In September 2007 opens with the « Salime Saxtet » the XXXV Edition of « Musical Meetings of Sorrento ». September always participates in new show of Maestro De Simone » La Funzione del Centenario » in the Cathedral of Caserta. In October 2007 is in tour in Rome with the work of De Simone « Là ci darem la mano » at the « Teatro Quirino Vittorio Gassman”. This work will win the E.T.I. award 2008 as the best musical show of the year. In November have a great success with pianist Luca Gargiulo with a concert at the “Sala del Toro Farnese” in the National Museum of Naples for the Napolinova Association. In 2008 participated at the « Neaples Theatre Festival Italy » with the oratorio « Cantata for the wedding of the Sansevero Prince » of Alessandro De Simone, performed in the premiere in the famous chapel Sansevero in Naples. In the summer of 2008 is between the winners of the Festival of “Castrocaro Classica”.
In October 2008 he plays for the inauguration of the symphonic season of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, with Arthur Honegger’s oratorio « Jean D’Arc au bucher ».
In 2009 participates in the « Neaples Theatre Festival Italy” playing in Mimmo Napolitano’s » San Gennaro Superstar « . And in 2010 for the “Napoli Theatre Festival Italy » plays in the show of De Simone » El Diego » at the “San Carlo” Theatre of Naples « . In October 2010 plays as soloist at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan for the festival REBUS 2010 organized by the « I Pomeriggi Musicali » Foundation and « Sconfinarte » Editions. In January 2011 is soloist at the inauguration of the opera season at the “San Carlo” Thetre in Naples, in the opera “Pergolesi in Olimpiade”. With this work in October 2011 will tour with the Teatro di San Carlo, in St. Petersburg (Russia).
He is a member of the « Carboneria Sax Ensemble », of « G.E.R.M.I. » Contemporary Music Ensemble , of the Duo G.E.R.M.I. with Massimiliano Tisano. Founder of the “Hot Saxophone Quartet”. Teaches Saxophone in junior high schools and in Cosenza Conservatory at the Crotone detachment.
