Paula Corley

Professeure de Clarinette, Texas Lutheran University

Paula Corley is currently on the faculty of Texas Lutheran University’s School of Music in Seguin where she teaches applied clarinet.

She is the author of two books for the developing clarinetist – So You Want To Play The Clarinet (a first year method) and Daily Workouts (exercises for the pre-college clarinetist).

Paula completed 19 years in the secondary school of Texas where she researched and developed her teaching methodology.

She has presented and performed at more than 45 music symposiums and events all over the US, and her articles on clarinet pedagogy can be found in WAVE, Vandoren’s online newsletter.

Her concept of teaching embouchure was published in THE INSTRUMENTALIST magazine, and her website, www.clarinetcity.com features a question and answer forum for teachers and students as well as videos, recordings, and articles. She is an artist for Buffet Crampon (since 2002) and Vandoren (since 2006).

Paula is a graduate of Mississippi State University and Southern Methodist University.

In 2013 she was named Alumnus of the Year for Mississippi State Department of Music. She has two commissions for clarinet: Unfamiliar Territory for Clarinet and Wind Ensemble by Michael Markowski and Road Trip – 3 Diversions for 5 Clarinets by Clifton Jones.
