Ronald Reuben

Bass Clarinet (retired) The Philadelphia Orchestra

A native Philadelphian, Mr. Reuben attended Olney High School and Temple University. Before entering The Curtis Institute of Music, he was a pupil of Joseph Gigliotti and while at Curtis, Anthony Gigliotti. Upon graduation, he performed with numerous jazz bands including Stan Kenton, before joining the Chicago Little Symphony. He later became a member of the Chamber Symphony of Philadelphia. A member of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 1967, Mr. Reuben was clarinet soloist with the Orchestra at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, performing Leonard Bernstein’s Prelude, Fugue and Riffs. A frequent chamber recitalist on clarinet, Mr. Reuben has performed on The Philadelphia Orchestra Chamber Music Concerts. He is also a jazz performer and was lauded by The New York Times for a saxophone solo improvised in concert with the American Composers Orchestra led by Dennis Russell Davies. He was featured in a cover story in the January/February 1998 issue of Saxophone Journal.Mr. Reuben is on the faculties of Temple University and Philadelphia’s University of the Arts and teaches privately. Mr. Reuben is a Buffet Crampon USA Performing Artist.
